We arrived early and helped set up the chairs. A surprising amount of people showed up. We were attending the Republican caucus, and so everything was well organized.
Local business was discussed, and then a representative for each candidate was given a chance to speak: Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and so on... then Mike Huckabee. I stood up. I walked to the front of the room to give a passionate speech about why I thought Governor Huckabee should be our next president. Suddenly, I realized I was standing in front of a big crowd of people...all by myself! I had watched all the candidates talk to huge crowds, but it is hard to describe the feeling I felt in these moments. I survived for about 30 seconds though, and happily returned to my seat. Then the voting began. Ted Cruz won our precinct, Marco Rubio came in second, and Donald Trump in third. The five voting members of my family ended up voting for four different people--Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump! One good thing about me not being old enough to vote is that I was able to like everybody! I'll be happy with which ever Republican candidate becomes President. It seems like we really have a good field of candidates this time.
Now we can be all done with politics! This probably will be my final political article. But, there's more that goes on in Iowa, so just stay on board to find out what will happen next!
