Kasich promises that in his first 100 days as president, he will send Congress a comprehensive plan that will increase job creation, cut taxes, and balance the budget in eight years. He believes that once the budget is balanced, the government should be forced to keep it balanced. Kasich feels that this can be done by reining-in spending, reforming our broken entitlement plans, and sending federal programs back to the states and communities where they belong. The Governor is a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment; he received an 'A' rating from the NRA. He believes in traditional marriage, but he feels that since the Supreme Court has ruled, there is no changing their ruling. Kasich believes that the way to defeat ISIS is to develop a complex, collaborative strategy involving mutual defense actions by NATO and our regional allies. He says that we must stand up to Russia to help ensure a free Ukraine. He strongly feels that the U.S.A. should once again be the leader of the world.
As Governor of Ohio, Kasich enacted more measures to protect unborn children than any other governor in the history of the state. As a result, abortions have hit a record low. He has often been targeted with opposition from pro-choice groups like Planned Parenthood. After the interesting meeting had come to a close, Governor Kasich shook a couple of hands, and then some girls in pink “Planned Parenthood” shirts, asked him to leave. They wanted to have a meeting in the room. The Governor complied, and kindly allowed my sister and me to come over with him to the hallway where we were able to get his autograph.
Fun Fact: At age 18, John Kasich wrote a letter to President Nixon telling him how much it would mean to him if he could meet him. The very next day Nixon replied with an invitation to the White House!
