As Christians, we each should have the testimony of Jesus in our lives. We should be able to say, "I know Him and He knows me." Jesus is what makes a Christian a Christian. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me." He said, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."
Matthew 7:21-23 says “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, ye that work iniquity!"
Salvation comes through Jesus alone. The church cannot give salvation. Our own actions cannot give us salvation. No one is born a Christian unless they are born of God, born again, quickened in the newness of life, baptized in the spirit and fire. It is a work of God. When that salvation of God happens we have the testimony of Jesus in our lives and we delight to do His will. We know Him and hear what He says and obey His words because He is our Father and we love and revere Him.
