He died to make clean our bodies and minds from sin, so that we might be the temple of the Holy Ghost. Galatians 3 tells us that Jesus purchased our freedom, redeeming us from the curse of the law and its condemnation. If we receive Christ Jesus, the blessing promised to Abraham comes upon us, so that we through faith receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In the Gospel, John the Baptist declared that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Ghost and fire. In the Book of Acts, Peter said this is it! They were filled with God's Spirit so fully that they overflowed with joy and spoke in tongues glorifying God.
Later on in Acts, Cornelius, his friends, and his family received the Holy Ghost in the same way the believers did in the upper room. Paul was concerned that some disciples he found didn't have the Holy Ghost. They said, “We haven't heard of it.” Paul asked, “How were you baptized?” They said, “John's baptism.” Paul baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus, and they received the gift of the Holy Ghost in the same way Peter and Cornelius did. People are still being filled with God's Holy Ghost in the same way as the book of Acts. It's for us, even us who love Jesus over two thousand years later.
Galatians 4 tells us God sent forth His Son to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Because we are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying Abba, Father, so that we can know God and be known of Him.
Ephesians 1 tells us when we trust Jesus, He seals us with His Holy Spirit. This is the fulfillment of the New Covenant of which Joel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, the Pentateuch, Psalms, and 2 Samuel prophesied. This is the everlasting covenant that He would take away our sins and remember them no more, and that He would put His law into our minds and write it in our hearts. We are His people, and He our God, and we know Him and enter into His rest.
In John 17:26, Jesus prayed, “I have declared unto them thy name and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” I also pray that this may be fulfilled in your lives.
